Catherine Louise (Winn) Swift

1925 - 2012

— Catherine Louise (Winn) Swift accepted the Lord at an early age, a beloved mother, and a former child development specialist for Muskogee Head Start.  She departed her life on October 3, 2012 surrounded by her children to be forever with the Lord.  Born December 6, 1925 to the late Clarence and Willetta Harrison, and was preceded in death by her beloved husband Calvin Sharp Swift; two brothers Clarence and Samuel Harrison; one sister Willie Lee Harrison, and one grandson Marcus Swift.

Catherine was on the battlefield working as a faithful member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She served as a member of the Women’s Missionary Society, Baptist Training Union, and Youth Department under the late Rev. Tommy McFrazier. She was a member of the Eastern Stars, and worked as a Coordinator for the Girard Reeves Community Center under the Community Action Program. She relocated to Allen, Texas to live with her daughter due to failing health in 2007, until she was called home to be with the Lord.

She leaves to cherish her memories, four sons; James Winn Harrison (Joyce) of Muskogee, Oklahoma; Osie Winn of Palm Bay, Florida; Jeremiah J. Swift (Letha) of Garden Grove, California; Joseph A. Swift of Allen, Texas; her six daughters Shirley Winn-Roy (Warren) of Las Vegas, Nevada; Sheila E. Swift-Woeger of Erie, Pennsylvania; Dr. Francine Swift of Allen, Texas; Kathryn Swift-McGriff (Tommy) of Muskogee, Oklahoma; Calva J. Swift-Edwards (Leroy) of Houston, Texas;  and Sharon E. Swift-Russell (Larry) of Las Vegas, Nevada;  Step-daughters Jackie Swift Scott of Dallas, Texas;  Faye Swift Woods of Los Angeles, California , 21 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild, step-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A home going celebration will be conducted, Saturday, October 13, 2012, 2:00 p.m. in Macedonia Baptist Church, 418 W. Shawnee, Muskogee, OK; with Rev. James W. Harrison, eulogizing.  Interment to follow in Booker T. Washington Cemetery, Muskogee, OK.

Visitation will be Friday, October 12, 2012, 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The family has been cared for by the Winn family at Granger-House of Winn Funeral Home.
