Billy Lee Sabin

1941-2013

— Billy Lee Sabin, 71 years of age, passed away on March 15, 2013 at the Brentwood Extended Care and Rehabilitation Center after an extended illness, surrounded by his friends and loved ones. Bill was born in Muskogee, OK on October 19, 1941. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Harold and Jessie Sabin.

At a young age Bill moved with his parents and brother to the farm across the road from the Sequoyah Grade School on South Highway 64. While living on the farm, Bill accepted Christ as his Savior and became a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Keefeton, as did his twin brother, Bob and their father. It was their desire to be baptized in Spaniard Creek, a tributary flowing into the river near Elm Grove. The baptisms took place on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, along with others being baptized. There were many attendees. Bill graduated from the Sequoyah Grade School and Oktaha High School. He was a member of the Oktaha High School 4-H Club. He exhibited animals at the Muskogee

Livestock Show, especially white faced Hereford Steers.

After the death of his parents, Bill moved back to Muskogee and became a resident of Pleasant Valley Nursing Center. He became a member of First Baptist Church. He rode the Church van from the Nursing Center, attending Church services and the Special Joy Sunday School Class, taught by his friend Leonia Barker. He later moved to Brentwood where he enjoyed all the recreational activities such as gospel singing, Church services, playing games and eating lots of delicious foods.

Bill loved antique dishes and furniture. He would find many worldly treasures on his walks around town. In fact, so many he had to rent a storage building. Along with his love for the garage sales and auctions, he loved car racing. Billy and Bobby are known by many as the “OU BOYS”. He loved OU football.

Bill is survived by his twin brother Bobby G. Sabin. He is also survived by his kind and loving caregivers, Ardyce Briggs and Clay and Darla Beshears.

Thanks to Rivercross Hospice and the Brentwood Staff for their tender and loving care for Bill.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Tuesday March 19, 2013 at Fosters’ Ivory Chapel with Mr. Bill Crow officiating. Burial will follow at Greenhill Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Clay Beshears, James Maddux, Leon Greb, Danny Leatherman, Chuck Jordan, Barry Stout and Virgil Weston.

Friends may wish to remember Bill Sabin by making memorial donations contributions to the charity of their choice, with acknowledgments sent to: Bobby G. Sabin, c/o Brentwood Extended Care, 841 North 38th Street, Muskogee, OK 74401.

Funeral service arrangements are under the direction of Foster-Petering Funeral Home. Friends may send condolences to www.foster-petering.com
