Charles Lindy Stevenson

1929 - 2013

Charles Lindy Stevenson, 84, passed away suddenly Thursday evening, August 15, 2013, at Hillcrest Hospital in Tulsa.

Lindy was born on February 28, 1929 in Webbers Falls, Oklahoma to Cleo Stevenson and Bess (Johnson) Stevenson. He grew up and attended school at Webbers Falls and graduated from High School with the Class of 1948. He met and married the love of his life, Patricia Chaney, on April 21, 1949 at Calvary Baptist Church in Muskogee and they celebrated 64 years of marriage.

Lindy was proud to serve his country by joining the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and eagle watching as his hobbies. He was a faithful member of Okay Christian Fellowship. Lindy was a 50 year Mason and Shriner. He was also a member and past president of Ongoers.

Lindy was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Nell Stevenson, and his brother, Bob Stevenson.

Lindy is survived by wife: Patricia; Family: Jack, Ed, and Ben Chaney, Bonnie Kingins, Barbara Wilson and Sue Weidner. Brothers-in-law: George Wilson and Larry Weidner. Sister-in-law: Mrs. Ben (Louise) Chaney. Special nieces: Sarah Brewster Roark, Robyn and Trish Brewster who were—as he always called them “my three girls.” Niece: Kristin Tims. Nephews: Jeff and Scott Stevenson. Numerous, much loved, nieces, nephews and friends.

Special thanks to niece, Stephanie Sanders and husband, Scott, Lisa and Jeff Leake for making his last days at home as comfortable as possible; and to Conrad Barrett for officiating Lindy’s funeral service.

Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, Office of Development, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.

Funeral services for Lindy will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Conrad Barrett and Ed Chaney officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Joe Reynolds, Scott Sanders, Tim Robison, Ken Mohr, George Wilson and Rick Raigoza. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery with Full Military Honors.

Funeral service arrangements are under the direction of Cornerstone Funeral Home, 1830 North York Street, Muskogee, Oklahoma.
