Robert “Leon” Lackey

1947 — 2013

Robert “Leon” Lackey, 66 year old Muskogee resident, passed away peacefully at his home, on Friday, August 30, 2013. He was born on Monday, March 17, 1947 in Stidham, Oklahoma to Clem and Leora (Moore) Lackey.

Leon met, fell in love with, and later married Dianna Gamble on Friday, February 3, 1967. He was a Christian and loved the Lord, spending time at New Hope Assembly. Leon’s favorite pastime was spending time with Dianna in the yard and in his shop. He was an excellent craftsman and could build anything out of wood. Leon was a devoted husband and father and loved his family very much.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Junior and Johnny as well as two infant brothers. Leon is lovingly survived by the love of his life, Dianna of 46 years; two daughters, Angie Totten and her husband, Jeff of Ottawa, KS, Melissa Dement and her husband, Jodi of Faxon, OK; four grandsons, Eric Totten, Brad Fisher, Levi Totten and his wife Cassie, Cody Fisher; four great-grandsons, Dakota, Nic, Landon and Parker. He is also survived by five brothers, Harold, Elvin, Bill, Charles and James; two sisters, Nina and Carolyn; numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family and a lifetime of friends.

Viewing for Leon will be on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 from 9 AM to 7 PM at Garrett Family Funeral Home of Checotah.

Services celebrating the life of Leon will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at New Hope Assembly with Reverend John Overton and Reverend Mike Gamble, officiating. Committal prayers and Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Checotah, under the personal direction of John Garrett. Jeffrey Totten, Levi Totten, Bradley Fisher, Cody Fisher, Zack Gamble and Oliver Chambers will serve as Casket Bearers.
