Bonnie Hall Sudberry Jennings

1919 - 2013

— Bonnie Hall Sudberry Jennings, 94, of Muskogee, was born May 17, 1919, in Porum, OK, the daughter of Grace Denison Futrell Hall and Sidney Fletcher Hall, Jr. She graduated from Checotah High School in 1938. While in high school, Bonnie was crowned as the Football Queen, All School Queen, and May Day Queen and earned the Latin Award. She attended Southern Methodist University where she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority.

Bonnie married the late Bayard Palmer Sudberry, Jr., October 1, 1939 in Dallas, TX. They resided in Dallas, West Point, MS, Colgate, Ada, and Muskogee, OK. She had been married 34 years to “Big Sud” when she became widowed. A few years later, she then met the late William Earl Jennings, M.D. while playing at a bridge tournament. They were married in 1976, and they lived in Rogers, AR, for 21 years. After his death, she relocated in Muskogee in 1998.

Bonnie was affiliated for many years with banking, notably the 1st National Bank of Boynton, OK, and was a member of the Board of Directors of the Territory National Bank. Bonnie was a faithful member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, P.E.O. Chapter B, and a Silver Life Master of ACBL Duplicate Bridge. She will be remembered as a woman who loved her church and playing duplicate bridge.

Bonnie is survived by three children: Sidney Sudberry Greathouse and husband, Les, of Oklahoma City; Bayard Palmer Sudberry, III and wife, Trudy, of Muskogee; Virginia (Ginny) Sudberry Brandecker and husband, Will, of Boca Raton, FL; and one “adopted son”, Jimmy Simmons of Chicago, IL; and 3 step-children: John Earl Jennings and wife, Rosemary of Rogers, AR; William Cliff Jennings, M.D. and wife, Hilary of Tulsa, OK; and Mary Jennings Hight and husband, Rob of Murphy, TX. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and eight step-grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren, and six step-great grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church with Mark R. Jardine and Greg Boyd officiating. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 2130 W. Okmulgee Ave., Muskogee OK 74401 or to “Friends of Honor Heights Park”, 4211 High Oaks, Muskogee OK 74401.
