Kathleen Marguerite Hodson Hodge, 72 formerly of Muskogee, died Monday, January 7, 2013 at her home in Tulsa.
Kathy was born on April 2, 1940 in Tulsa OK to her parents Marshall E and Anna C Hodson. She grew up in the Tulsa area, graduating from Marquette High School in 1958. On May 30th 1964, Kathy married the love of her life; Tom G. Hodge M.D. in Chandler, Oklahoma witnessed by their best friends, Ted and Joan Hodge.
A lifelong scholar, Kathy studied for many years. Not only did she earn a Bachelor of Arts degree from Northeastern State University, she continued studying History, Art, Genealogy, and even lately started studying in the field of Business. She was a lover of artistic passion: a moving painting by a local artist or the power of Segovia played with classical guitar held as much interest as the classical Renaissance paintings in the book on her coffee table.
However, Kathy’s fiercest passion was for her family, the farm, her horses and her dogs. Kathy could brush-hog the front pasture in the morning and charm the governor of Oklahoma at a State charity event that night with Tommy at her side. She often would stay up late into the night helping a mare foal, then work all day on the chores. Kathy was just as comfortable nursing the hundreds of stray dogs that wandered up to the farm as she was chairing the “Azalea Festival” at Honor Heights Park. And in the last few years of her beloved Tommy’s life, she stayed by his side with faith and determination.
Recently she mentioned that she had a lot of goals that she still wanted to accomplish. She asked a friend to come with her to go “dance naked in the moonlight in the Pacific ocean”.
Kathy is survived by her son, Stephen, and stepdaughters, Vicki, Julie, and Lisa.
Kathy was predeceased by her husband Tom G. Hodge M.D.
Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Friday at Hayhurst Funeral Home.
