Mrs. Mary Alice Cain

1934 - 2013

— Mrs. Mary Alice Cain, in her 78th season of life, surrendered to the will of the Lord on Thursday, March 28, 2013 with her loving family near her side.

Truly the ideal wife, lover, mother and friend, Sister Cain was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma, the daughter of Oscar and Dovie [Green] Hawkins on July 24, 1934.

She married Ferdinand J. Cain on May 6, 1952 and they were still “courting” after 60 beautiful years of marriage. She possessed keen intellect and great wisdom. Mrs. Cain loved people, spoiling her kids and pampering her husband. She was widely traveled and an avid reader. She persevered through many years as a military wife; making do through rough times and not being spoiled by the good times.

She was able to travel with her husband while he was in the military, living in Japan and on Okinawa for 7 years. They moved to Guthrie, Oklahoma in 1977, where she was a member of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Guthrie. Mrs. Cain was a member of Title 9 School Board, Brownie Scout leader and in the Girl Scout Hall of Fame.

In 2000, she retired to Muskogee and was a member of Rayfield Baptist Church. The family decided to relocate to Edmond, Oklahoma in 2011 for enhancement of health care.

Those that wait on the Lord; her devoted and loving husband, Ferdinand J. Cain, of the home in Edmond, Oklahoma; five children, Michael O. Cain, Mary A. Cain, David A. Cain, Sharon D. Cain and Mark C. Cain; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; along with other relatives and friends.

The Hour of Remembrance will be shared on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. in the Rayfield Baptist Church. Reverend Leroy Walker, Sr., Pastor, will Officiate. Burial will follow in the National Cemetery at Fort Gibson, Oklahoma. Services are under the care of Keith Biglow and the staff of  Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc., of Muskogee.

Friends may convey condolences and sign the online register at www.biglowfunerals.com.
