Laurene Yocum Hinnen

1925-2013

Laurene Yocum Hinnen, 88, of Muskogee, Oklahoma, died Sunday, September 15, 2013 at Eastgate Village Health Care Center.  She was born July 22, 1925 in Deadwood, Texas to William Russell Hughes and Annie Mae (Adcock) Hughes.

Laurene was employed as a cashier/checker at a grocery store and receptionist at a small business loan company.

She loved her church and served as a board member, Sunday School teacher, church treasurer, church secretary and was Missions president.  She volunteered at Muskogee Regional Medical Center, was a member of the Quilting Club and president of the Friendship Club at Greenleaf Apartments.  She enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting, reading and working puzzles.  Her final days were spent living with her friends at Dogwood Creek Assisted Living in Muskogee, Oklahoma.

 Laurene was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Raymond Yocum, after 53 years of marriage; second husband, Joe Hinnen; brother, William Don Hughes; sisters, Gayle Moore, Reese Welch and Maydell Schiller and granddaughter, Danielle Yocum.  

She is survived by her five children, Bob Yocum (Sy Hecker) of Aventura, FL, Terry Yocum (Charlene) of Lampasas, TX, Toni Padgett (Carl) of Muskogee, OK, Steve Yocum (Karen Case) of Burnet, TX and Randy Yocum (Jane Mashikian Jacob) of Burnet, TX; seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and one sister, Joann Ayres (Charles).  

A viewing will be from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at Foster-Petering Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Elgin Funeral Home in Elgin, Texas.  Interment will follow in Speir Family Cemetery in Elgin.
