Joy Valeria Martindale


Joy Martindale passed peacefully from this earth surrounded by close family and loved ones on Thursday, October 17, 2013, at her home in Muskogee, OK.  She was born December 31, 1925, in Sumner, Texas.  She moved to Boswell, Oklahoma at age two, where she graduated high school and married Thomas B. Martindale.  Joy was an active member of the Boswell Baptist Church until January 2010 when she and her husband moved to Muskogee to be close to their son and daughter-in-law.  Joy spent her hours tending to her flower gardens, enjoying time with her church family at Timothy Baptist, daily bible study and enjoying time with family, including her new great granddaughter, Lola.

Joy was preceded in death by her father, C.V. (Cheesy) Parson, her mother, Georgia Lee Parson, brothers Edward and Joe Parson, sisters, Eddie Campbell, Hope Tillerson and Zoe McDade.  She is survived by her sister, Betty Ann Crowe of Atlanta, Georgia, husband, Thomas B. Martindale, son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Angela Martindale of Muskogee, granddaughter, Kelly Ann Martindale of Huntsville, Alabama, grandson, Corey Martindale, his wife Amy and their daughter Lola Darlene of Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Funeral arrangements provided by Mt. Olive Funeral Home in Hugo, Oklahoma.  Services will be held at Boswell Baptist Church, Monday, October 21, 2013, at 1:00 p.m., followed by interment at Restland Cemetery in Boswell, Oklahoma.
