Frances Lee Campbell, 91 longtime resident of Muskogee, passed away Saturday evening surrounded by her family. Frances was born August 10, 1922, in Hoyt, Oklahoma, to Robert Fred and Cordia (Cummings) West. Shortly after her birth, her family moved to Whitefield where she attended school. On February 7, 1939 she and Roy Leo Campbell were married in Stigler, Oklahoma.
Being a homemaker and caring for her four children were very important to Frances; she also enjoyed sewing, cooking and keeping her grandchildren, who affectionately called her “Nanny”, and making them ‘chocolate gravy.’ Her passion, however was to tell people about Jesus. Frances’ family loved her very much and they wanted to make a special mention that on October 19 she became a ‘great great grandmother’ for the second time with the birth of Reid Bearl Davis.
The family of Frances wishes to also extend a special thanks to Teresa, Pam, Debbie Y. and Holly Harris at Eastgate Village for the care and kindness shown to her during the time she was there.
Frances is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother Roland West, and her sisters, Sue West and Mae West.
She is survived by her son, Jerry Campbell and wife, Sue of Fort Gibson; her daughters, Nancy Ellis and husband, Charles of Fort Gibson, Debbie Jackson and husband, Terry of Muskogee, and Sally Mahaffey and husband, Jim of Fort Gibson; her sisters, Ima Jewel Shultz, Doris West and Shirley West; her grandchildren, Regina Sallee, Randy Ellis, Brett Campbell, Becky Elliott, Brady Horton, Valerie Ellis, Twana Beaver, Jason Horton, Jennifer Killingsworth and Ashley Cunningham; her sixteen great grandchildren that were very special to her; two great great grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Christine Bailey; many other family members and friends.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel, 1830 N. York Street, Muskogee, Oklahoma, with Reverend Dale Howard officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons and great grandsons; Randy Ellis, Brett Campbell, Jason Horton, Brady Horton, Chris Ellis and Logan Pease.
