Jimmie Eugene Bedford

1936-2014

Jimmie Eugene Bedford, 77, of Coweta, passed away from cancer on June 4, 2014 at the Coweta Manor. Jimmie was born on October 18, 1936 in Bower, Oklahoma to Thomas Andrew and Bertha Lavina (Guinn) Bedford. He graduated from Stidham High School in 1957. Jimmie served in the United States Air Force for four years and the Unites States Army for two years. He worked at the APEX and the Army Ammunition Plant. He also worked on the railroad. Jimmie worked as a jailer for McIntosh County for over ten years, before retiring. He enjoyed fishing and gardening, especially roses. He also liked to mow everyone's yard for them. Jimmie later worked at Fountainhead for a while before delivering newspapers for the McAlester News Capital.

Survivors include: son, Randy Bedford, of Coweta, OK; daughters: Paula Wells and husband, Russell, of Neodesha, KS; Janet Butler and husband, Jim, of Florida; daughter in-law, Shawna Bedford, of Bixby, OK; brothers: Fred Bedford and wife, Sandy, of Broken Arrow, Ok; Ray Bedford and wife, Pauline, of Sacramento, CA; sisters: Billie Brannon, of Salinas, CA; Edith Blevins and husband, Jack, of Tulsa, OK; sisters in-law: Jean Bedford, Dorothy Kirkpatrick, and Ramona Bedford; nine grandchildren: Bryan Butler, Travis Butler, Preston Machado, Chelsea Machado, Elizabeth Machado, Abigail Bedford, Kyle Bedford, Travis Wells, and Tyler Wells; one great granddaughter, Farajo Machado. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Bertha Bedford; wife of twenty-five years, Phyllis Bedford; brothers: Thomas L., Joseph Roy, Clifford Lee, and Jackey Bedford; sisters: Johnnie Mae Kirkpatrick, Betty Rodgers, Patsy Wilson, Sharon Bedford, and Joella Shelley; and one grandson, James Burns.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 9, 2014 at the Bower Cemetery with Reverend Kenneth Loma officiating. Cremation arrangements were made with Hunn Black & Merritt Funeral Home & Crematory. Memorial contributions may be made with Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.
