Leroy Daniel Innis

1933 - 2014

Leroy Daniel Innis, 80, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away Monday, June 9, 2014 in Muskogee. He was born on September 22, 1933 in Amarillo, Texas to Charles Elver Innis and Anna Easter Jordan Innis. Leroy moved to Muskogee with his family where he attended school and graduated from Muskogee Central High School. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army from which he received an Honorable Discharge. He then continued his service to the United States when he enlisted with the Army National Guard. Leroy retired as a Staff Sergeant with 27 years of service with the Army National Guard on August 31, 1990.

Leroy married the love of his life, Betty Jo Pilkington on February 1, 1958 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. They shared over 56 years together.  

Leroy's hobbies included hunting and fishing, working crossword puzzles, and coin collecting. He attended First Baptist Church in Muskogee and Immanuel Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Innis; sisters, Jane Ann Innis Burdick and Betty Innis Dietz.

Leroy is survived by his wife, Betty Jo Innis of Muskogee; his sons, Danny Innis and wife, Tearsa of Muskogee and Timothy Innis and wife, Martha of Wagoner; grandchildren, Charles Innis and wife, Jennifer of Tahlequah, Phillip Innis and wife, Rebecca of Tuttle, OK, Faith Innis, Daniel Innis, and Joshua Innis, all of Muskogee, great grandchildren, Jayden Innis and James Innis, both of Tahlequah; sister, Harriet Lee of Ft. Worth, TX; other family members and friends.

Funeral services for Leroy will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 13, 2014 at Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum with Rev. Rex Wilkinson officiating.  Interment will follow with Ricky Lee, John Eaton, Phillip Innis, Montie Wright, Phil Benge, Bob Dotson, and Charlie Bowman serving as pallbearers.
