Jim Livingston

1922 - 2014

Jim Livingston, 92, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away early Tuesday morning, June 10, 2014, after a short illness. Jim was born on January 1, 1922 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Tobias and Francis (Rider) Livingston. He grew up and attended Holy Family Catholic School and Tulsa Public Schools graduating from Tulsa Central. Jim joined the United States Army Air Corp in 1942 and was at the top of his class in pilot training and became a flight instructor. He set fitness records at all the bases he was assigned to. Jim married his high school sweetheart, Maxine Perreault on May 29, 1945. They established their household in Tulsa and had a son, Robert and a daughter, Bess. He was very active in sports and was on two National Champion fast pitch semi-pro softball teams. He also carried a 210 bowling average.  Jim and Maxine were both avid golfers and were members of the Canyon Creek Country Club in Dallas for 17 years. They moved to Muskogee in 1987 and were members of the Muskogee Country Club. During their marriage, Jim and Maxine traveled extensively in the United States and abroad on golfing trips to Alaska, Scotland, England, France, Hawaii, Mexico, Singapore, Bali, and the Dominican Republic.  

Jim was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.  He never met a stranger and always had a great welcoming smile. He will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Maxine; and his brother, Ed.

Jim is survived by his son, Dr. Robert J. Livingston and wife, Donna of Muskogee; his daughter, Bess Livingston and husband, Grant Hall of Tulsa; his grandsons, Dr. Josh Livingston of Tulsa, Toby Livingston of Greeley, CO, Dylan McCants of Tulsa; his great grandsons, Ethan Livingston and Luke McCants, both of Tulsa; his great granddaughters, Riley Livingston, Bella Livingston, and Mary Cate McCants, all of Tulsa, and Ashlen Livingston of Greeley, CO; other family members and friends.

Family will receive friends for visitation from 5:30-7:30PM, Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Cornerstone Funeral Home.

Graveside services for Jim will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 13, 2014 at Fort Gibson National Cemetery with Father Mike Knipe celebrant. Full Military Honors will be presented.

The family requests memorials be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 301 N. Virginia St, Muskogee OK 74403.
