John Lester , age 81 passed away peacefully in Muskogee, Oklahoma surrounded by his daughter Primrose, Granddaughters Shauna and Samyra on Sunday, December 16, 2012. He was born on May 9th, 1931 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Vina (Pete) Jones Terrell and Charles Thomas Lester, also raised by step-dad Rev. Dennis Terrell.
He attended Muskogee Schools. John’s Brothers; Joseph T. Lester died on January 27, 1998 and Edward Allen Lester died on May 11, 2005. He is survived by one brother; Bill Lester of Muskogee.
John enlisted in the National Guard and was a member of the Heavy Mortar Company 279th Infantry Regiment, 45th Infantry Division of the Oklahoma National Guard. He enlisted in Company Infantry Okla. NG on the 19th of November 1947 as a Corporal.
Later in his young adult life, he moved out to the South-West States. He had many talents and jobs from working in Ambulance, being a Judge of Justice of Peace. He had two owned and operated businesses in Bluff, Utah. One was a convenience store “ Lester’s Corner” and a Bar “Silver Dollar Bar”. Utah was where his heart was. He enjoyed living next to the San Juan River where he made many friends and family.
John had a big heart and made life long relationships with many people. He lived on the lake in a small community-Lake Crest in Wagoner County, where he enjoyed catching catfish.
He is survived by his daughters; Primrose Lester of Muskogee, Robin Lester of Moab, Utah, Johnnie Mae Lester in Missouri, Audrey Lucille Lester of Oklahoma. Step-daughters; Jane Campbell and Brenda Wells.
His son’s; John Bryan Lester, Jr., Oreland John Wells, Todd Wells, Troy Anthony Wells who died July 7, 2008 in Towaoc, Colorado, Clifford Antez of Montezuma Creek, Utah and Dennis Bryan Lester of Muskogee and one step son; Gary Ned Campbell.
Grandkids; Leah Bennett, Dave Wells, Simeon George, Shauna Logan, Samyra Logan, LaShauna Rain Lester, Christopher Shoni and many more.
Great Grand Child; Jackson Brady. Numerous other family members and a host of friends.
There will be a private family gathering only. According to John’s wishes, no public funeral service is scheduled.
