George Thomas Dunavin, Jr., aged 65, passed away on May 27, 2013. He was born in Tahlequah, Oklahoma on July 8th 1947 to George T. & Marie Dunavin.
During his childhood in California, Tom was a Cub and Boy Scout, earning the “Order of the Arrow” award. He loved playing first base for little League Baseball, and at age 11, the LA Dodgers Player Gil Hodges signed Tom’s Glove. The family moved to Texas before returning to Tahlequah, where he graduated from Tahlequah High School in 1965 and from OSU Institute of Technology in Okmulgee in 1967. Tom worked as a claims adjustor for Allstate Insurance Company, living in Dallas, TX & Muskogee, OK. Additionally, he worked along side his dad as an independent contract adjustor for Farmers Insurance Group. He retired after 19 yrs. as the Circulation Manager for the Tahlequah Daily Press. Tom truly enjoyed the game of Golf, playing at every opportunity.
He is survived by his parents George & Marie and one sister of Tahlequah, Connie Dunavin. Three daughters: Tonia Brown of Bixby and husband Jeff. Whitney Dunavin and Brittany Dunavin both of Tahlequah. And four grandson’s: Zachary Etier, Joshua & Noah Brown all of Bixby and Peyton Davis of Tahlequah.

A service is scheduled at the Pavilion on Monday, June 10th at Ten o’ clock in the Tahlequah City Cemetery.
