Myrna L. Sanders

1944 - 2013

— Myrna L. Sanders, 69, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2013. She was born February 15, 1944 in Victoria, Texas to Clark Lou Allen and Oweta V. (McIver) Allen. Myrna grew up in Muskogee where she attended school. She was a straight “A” student and enjoyed being a member of the Honor Roll. She was awarded the Outstanding Student for Shorthand her senior year. She graduated with the class of 1962 from Central High School in Muskogee.

Myrna met and later married Thomas Dexter Sanders on August 2, 1974 at her mother’s home in Muskogee. Myrna was a gifted artist when she was young and loved to paint pictures throughout the years. She was an active member of the PTA during her children’s school years as well as her grandchildren’s. Myrna was a devoted mother and grandmother. She took great pride in her home. She loved going to garage sales and finding bargains.

Myrna never met a stranger; she would talk to anyone and carry on a conversation. She was a woman of faith and had a strong relationship with the Lord. Her family will always remember she would help anyone in need. Myrna was known for giving gifts and always said “don’t cash your checks until Friday.” She also loved animals; she had a very kind heart for them.

Myrna was preceded in death by her daughter, Tammy Lou Biggs; her father, Clark Allen; her son-in-law, Hank Glass; and her niece, Destrie Winters.

She is survived by husband, Tom, of the home; her daughters, Vanessa Glass, Kristina Hight (Randy Reeve); her grandchildren, Branson Glass, Hunter Glass, Jimmy Hight, Tyler Hight; her sister, Debbie Frazier (Jerry); her mother, Oweta Allen, all of Muskogee; her sister-in-law, Deanna Beaty (Mike); her nieces and nephews, Shelby Winters, Casey Winters, Jenna Winters, Taylor Frazier, Emily Frazier, Dustin Frazier, and Amy Frazier; her husband’s niece, Dawn Miller (Tim) and son, Julian Rome, of Broken Arrow and other family members and friends.

Funeral services for Myrna will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 15, 2013 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tom Shelton officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery.

Funeral services are under the direction of Cornerstone Funeral Home and Crematory, 1830 N. York Street, Muskogee, Oklahoma.
