Dawn Mari Cooper


Dawn Mari Cooper of Checotah, Oklahoma, passed away May 26, 2014, at Hillcrest Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was the middle daughter born to Mari Burton and David L. Cooper Sr. on March 13, 1969 in Mesa, Arizona. She is preceded in death by her sister, Dalinda Hyslop, son Travis Reese and daughter Shavona Reese.

Dawn was a friend and known to many throughout her community. She attended school in both Michigan and Arizona where she spent most of her childhood. Dawn left us as a loving housewife but she had worked many years as a certified nurse’s aide at the Checotah Manor Senior Home. She very much enjoyed and loved the elderly people she cared for. Dawn was a very creative and crafty person who enjoyed making things for her loved ones.

Dawn leaves husband Tyronne Hymes III; daughters, Angel Reese and Frances Hymes; sons, James Reese and Tyronne Hymes IV; granddaughter, Megan Reese; mother, Mari Burton and father, David L. Cooper Sr.; brothers, David L. Cooper Jr. and Brent Cooper; sister, Mari Jeanine Cooper and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends behind. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

A memorial service celebrating the life of Dawn Mari Cooper will be held at 1:00pm, Thursday, May 1, 2014 at the Checotah Funeral Service Chapel.
