Max Hayes

1925 - 2014

Funeral services for Max Hayes, 88, of Muskogee, OK, will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Church Central with Pastor Guy Parish and Reverend Wendell Cox officiating. Nephews, Mike Hayes, Brad Hayes, Clint Hayes, Darrell Jones, Marshall Walters, and Willard Hayes will serve as pallbearers. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery under the direction of Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home of Muskogee.

Max was born at Braggs, OK, on December 16, 1925 the son of Ed and Amy (Baldwin) Hayes. He passed from this life on Monday, April 28, 2014 at the age of 88 years. Max served his country in the U. S. Navy from 1944 to 1946. On September 7, 1946 he married Imogene Thomason. They lived in Muskogee before moving to California where he worked in the oil fields. Prior to moving back to Muskogee, they lived a short time in Nevada. Max retired as owner of a car lot and service station.

Max is survived by his wife, Imogene of 67 years; two brothers, Dean Hayes and wife, Wanda, Douglas Hayes all of Muskogee; two sisters, Lola Jones of Wagoner, Carolyn Walters and husband, Melvin, of Muskogee; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Jake, Edgar, Leo, Harold, and Donald Ray; and one sister, Lucille Bell.
