Gloria Jean Hunt, 86, longtime resident of Muskogee passed away Friday morning. Gloria was born January 20, 1927 in Checotah, Oklahoma to Virgil and Lala Harrison. She grew up and attended school in Checotah and moved to Muskogee with her parents in 1946, and has lived in Muskogee since that time. On August 30, 1957 she and Lloyd Hunt were married in Stigler, Oklahoma.
Gloria began her career as a secretary working locally for a State Farm Insurance agent until she transferred to the Claims Office of State Farm where she worked 35 years, retiring in 1990. Since her retirement she has been very active attending softball games and watching her favorite softball team, the Wildcats, which has been coached by her son, Hal Sands. Also during her retirement, Gloria has enjoyed line dancing, card playing, watching all sports—football, basketball, baseball (especially the Yankees), and women’s and girl’s softball, local and professional. She especially enjoyed watching and traveling with her granddaughters’ softball teams, season after season. Gloria was a member of First Baptist Church of Muskogee. She was a Christian and loved God and her family with all her heart. She was a friend to many but to her family, she was their best friend.
Gloria is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Burl Harrison and her sister Kaye Harrison.
