Richard Thomas Simmons

1931 – 2013

Richard Thomas Simmons was born November 14, 1931, in Muskogee County to Luther and Mary (Morton) Simmons of Muskogee, OK. Richard went to be with his heavenly father December 2, 2013, at the age of 82.

On September 3, 1954, Richard married Leonah Biggs. They were married in Muskogee by Rev. Williams. They celebrate their 59th anniversary on September 3, 2013.  Richard loved to fish, hunt, treasure hunt and play his guitar. Treasure hunting took him and Leonah on lots of great adventures and they acquired some great finds.

Richard accepted Christ as his personal Savior in 2004.

Richard was employed at Acme Engineering and Manufacturing and retired after 40 years.

Richard is survived by his wife, Leonah; their children, Ronald and Debbie Simmons of Wagoner, Barbara Gale (Simmons) and Don Walton of Muskogee; grandchildren, Stephen Clopton, Angie Turner and husband, Duane of Rogers, AR and Michael Hough of Geneva, IN; great grandchildren, Michael, Zach and Derrick; brothers, Bill Simmons and wife, Rose, Ray Simmons and wife, Jeanie; brother-in-law, Jim Biggs and wife, Mary of AR; sister-in-law, Mable Taylor of Ft. Gibson.  Richard was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ruby Tennison; brothers, Carl Simmons and Leroy Simmons.

A funeral celebrating the life of Richard T. Simmons will be held Thursday, December 5, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Bradley Belltower Chapel with Reverend Kelly Payne officiating.  Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery with Steven Biggs, Leon Simmons, Bryce Taylor, Bill Simmons, Jr., Otis Collins and Stephen Clopton serving as pallbearers.
