Reverend William A. Bartlett, 63 year old Checotah resident, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, surrounded by his loving family on Monday, December 02, 2013 in Muskogee. He was born on Wednesday, October 18, 1950 to Elsie Bartlett Bates in Coldwater, Michigan. William grew up in Michigan where he received his education, graduating from Union City High School. After graduation he attended Southern Bible College in Houston, Texas, where he met the love of his life Margie Alexander. They were married on Friday, July 9, 1971 in Eufaula, OK. He served as the assistant pastor at Bethel Church and later served as pastor in Ardmore and Prague. Reverend Bartlett was the State Youth Director for 8 _ years for the Pentecostal Church of God Denomination. He also served as the pastor of Rose City Pentecostal Church in North Little Rock where he had the largest Christian school in North Little Rock. He enjoyed his work with Larry Jones and the “Feed the Children Program” and ministered on a Navajo Indian Reservation. In 1988 he became the Pastor of Faith Temple in Checotah, Oklahoma. He was a great pianist, played the accordion, a wonderful singer, loved to play volleyball and ice skate, but most of all a great man of God. Reverend Bartlett was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Minnie Bates. He is lovingly survived by his wife of 42 years, Margie of the home; children, Chad A. Bartlett and his wife Helen of Norman, Amber Hendrickson and her husband Ryan, Benjamin Bartlett and his wife Casey, Yvette Applegarth all of Checotah; eight- grandchildren, Hayden, Cameron, and Harrison Bartlett of Norman; Reed and Jonas Hendrickson and Grace, Ragine & Traber Bartlett all of Checotah. Reverend Bartlett is also survived by his sister-in-law, Ivon Wade and husband Wayne of Eufaula; brothers-in-law, Marcus Alexander and wife Naoma of Broken Arrow and Gary Alexander and wife Danelle of Woodland, California as well as the Faith Temple Church Family, numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and a lifetime of friends all over the world. As you honor the life of Reverend Bartlett, memorials are to be made in his memory to the William Bartlett Memorial Fund % Peoples National Bank P.O. Box 412 Checotah, OK 74426. Services celebrating the life of Reverend Bartlett will be held at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at the Lighthouse Christian Center, Eufaula, with his brother-in-law, Reverend Marcus Alexander officiating. Committal prayers and Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery of Eufaula under the personal direction of John Garrett. Sam Gonzagowski, Hayden Bartlett, Cameron Bartlett, Clayton Cutbirth, Gary Blaisch and Josh Brinsfield will serve as Casket Bearers. Lawrence Gildhouse, Hollis Weeks, Wayne Wade and Dennis Sizemore will serve as Honorary Casket Bearers.
