Nina Elizabeth Hoggard Lamb

1946 - 2013


— Nina E. H. Lamb, fondly known as “Betty”, age 66, died peacefully surrounded by family and dedicated hospice staff in Reston, Virginia, her home of over thirty years.

She was born December 16, 1946, in Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma and was the loving daughter of Blanche and Aaron Hoggard. After graduating with a M.A. in Reading and B.A. in Education, Nina had a career that was multifaceted and rewarding. She taught for thirty-five years and began her career in Newark, New Jersey. She taught Step-Up Language Arts, Step-Up Math and ESL (English as a second language). During her career she received numerous accolades and multiple certifications and served on various committees an at one point during her career was voted “Best Fifth Grade Teacher”. In addition to her teaching, Nina had a great passion for gardening, arts/crafts, theater, travel, religion, spirituality and other aspects of the arts. She enjoyed learning about various cultures, and traveled extensively throughout Europe, Africa, Israel, Mexico, Canada the Caribbean and the United States. She served as a volunteer with Operation Crossroads a premier cross-cultural grassroots organization which serves a variety of African populations and is forerunner to the Peace Corps. Nina was a loving wife and mother.

She is survived by her husband, James Lamb, of Reston, VA, and her daughter, Miriam Lamb Perrone, of Los Altos, CA.

Services for Nina will be held Monday, June 10th, 2013, 10:00 a.m. at the Ragsdale Funeral Center “Chapel of Respect” with Rev. David L. Ragsdale officiating. She will be entombed in Memorial Park Mausoleum. There will be no public viewing.
