Anne Phillips

1924 – 2013

— Anne Phillips, 89, of Muskogee, died Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Eastgate Village Retirement Center. 

She was born June 22, 1924 in Muskogee to Ira B. Pate, Sr. and Minnie (Moran) Pate. Anne was raised in Muskogee where she attended school graduating from Central High School with the class of 1942. Following high school, she went to work at Camp Gruber. Later, she was a partner at Meadowbrook Golf Course. Then she began a long career at the VA Regional Office from where she retired. Anne and Eddie Phillips married in 1965 and made Muskogee their home except for one year when they resided in Boston.

She was a longtime golfer and member of the Muskogee Country Club, an avid bridge player and member of a bridge club and was in the Cockle Dance Group. Anne was president of the Women’s Golf Association, president of St. Joseph Altar Society and St. Joseph Endowment Board.

Anne was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Eddie Phillips in 1992; brother, Ira B. Pate, Jr.; sister, Mary Pat Baltzle; brother, Jim Pate and nephew, Craig Pate. She is survived by two step-daughters and their husbands, Becky and Jim Loizzo of Lake Geneva, WI and Dianna and Bob Autenreith of New Jersey; step-grandchildren, Amber, Clayton, Jacky, Veronica, and Brittany; sister-in-law, Phyllis Pate; nephews, Jimmy V. Pate, Jr. and his wife, Sheri, and Jerry Pate; nieces, Jan Morrison and her husband, Jerry Wayne, and Karen Felts and her husband, Jack Vincent.   

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Michael Knipe officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhill Cemetery.

Funeral service arrangements are under the direction of Foster-Petering Funeral Home.
