Donna Kay Johnson

1958 - 2014

Donna Kay Johnson of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma was called to her heavenly home on Sunday, June 15, 2014 at the age of 56. She was born May 20, 1958 in San Jose, California to Daniel Lewis Crow and Evelyn Virginia Hayes-Crow where she attended public schools until she was 14. She then moved with her family to Braggs, Oklahoma where she attended school and graduated with the class of 1976.  

Donna met and later married her best friend, Terry Wayne Johnson on August 6, 1977 in Braggs, Oklahoma and they shared over 36 years together.  

She worked at Norwood Elementary School as a teacher's aide and helped implement the arts and crafts program which was very important to her. She will be remembered for her caring spirit and devotion to the children at Norwood.  

Donna loved spending time in her flower beds and garden along with shopping, traveling and going out to eat. Her artistic visions were brought to life through her husband, Terry’s, engineering skills. Donna’s creative spirit was also evidenced by Princess Pooh and Penelope stories in the realm of King Terry and Queen Donna for her daughters every night. She was a member of Muskogee First Assembly of God as well.

Donna was loved by many and will be truly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Sharon Carter and Marilyn Carter.

Donna is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Terry of the home; daughters, Amber Burk and husband, Patrick of Muskogee, Janel Johnson of Tahlequah; grandchildren, PJ Burk, Faith Burk, and Addison Burk of Muskogee; sister, Phyllis Phillips and husband, John of Porter, TX; aunts and uncles, Russ Hayes and wife, Norma, Ken Hayes and wife, Jane, all of Muskogee, Gerald Hayes and wife, Jimmie Sue of Tulsa; mother-in-law, Jeannie Johnson; sisters-in-law, Deborah Rolland, Malinda Rolland, Betty Jo Perry, Paula Smith, Anne White, Francis Johnson, and Pamela Williams; brother-in-law, David Johnson; many other family members and friends.

The family requests memorial be made to Norwood Elementary School, 7966 West 790 Rd,  Hulbert, OK, 74441.

A memorial service celebrating Donna's life will be 9:00 a.m., Saturday, June 21, 2014 at the New Life Center, 4025 Gibson St, Muskogee, with Rev. Don Jaquez officiating.  Honorary pallbearers will be Patrick Burk, Gabriel Harriman, Cal Harriman, David Hayes, David Johnson, Ken Hayes, Russell Hayes, and Gerald Hayes.

Funeral services are under the direction of Cornerstone Funeral Home, 1830 North York Street, Muskogee, Oklahoma. Condolences may be made to the family online @www.cornerstoneofmuskogee.com.
