Bettie Lee McCaffrey

1925-2014

Bettie Lee McCaffrey, 88 a lifetime resident of Muskogee, passed away Saturday with her family by her side.  Bettie was born January 28, 1925 to J.D. and Alice (Parker) Weaver.  She grew up and attended public schools in Muskogee.  

On August 16, 1949, Bettie married the love of her life, Raymond Henry McCaffrey (Mac), Sr. in Van Buren, Arkansas. They celebrated 48 years of marriage.

By trade, Bettie was an accomplished drapery maker.  She owned her own business, Bettie's Custom Draperies, for many years until she retired in 1984.  After her retirement from her drapery business, she began a second career, taking care of her grandchildren.  Bettie was known to her family as the “Matriarch”.  She loved her grandchildren and loved to spoil them.  Bettie loved nothing more than family get togethers as she hosted the family Christmas Eve party for 47 years.  She also enjoyed square dancing and vacations to Panama City Beach, Florida.  

Bettie was loved by all who knew her and will be sorely missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mac; parents, J.D. and Alice Weaver; her brothers, Carl, Jack, Bob, Phillip; and her sister, Charlotte Van Tuyl.

Bettie is survived by her son, Dr. Raymond McCaffrey Jr. and wife, Dr. Candace McCaffrey of Norman, OK; her daughter, Carol Garner and husband, Rick of Muskogee; granddaughters, Michelle Jones of Muskogee, Megan McCaffrey of Norman and Amber Morris and husband Richie of Muskogee; grandson, Connor McCaffrey of Norman; great granddaughters Morgan Morris and Mabree Morris, of Muskogee; her sister, Pauline Weaver Isom of New Braunfels, TX; her brother, James Weaver and wife, Janis of Gulf Shores, AL; her brother-in-law, Dr. Ronald Van Tuyl of Tulsa, OK; her sisters-in-law, Faye Weaver and Marie Weaver of Muskogee; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, other family members and friends.

Funeral services celebrating Bettie's life will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 22, 2013 at Memorial Park Mausoleum with Raymond McCaffrey Jr. and Dr. Jack Weaver officiating.  Interment will follow with Dr. Raymond McCaffrey Jr., Rick Garner, Connor McCaffrey, Dr. Jack Weaver, Dr. Ron Van Tuyl Jr, and Dr. Sean Van Tuyl serving as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers will be James Weaver and Dr. Ron Van Tuyl.
