Margaret Goehmann

1925-2014


— Margaret Rains Goehmann, much beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother, was born on August 18, 1925 in McLain, Oklahoma and passed away on Saturday, January 18th, 2014 at her home in Muskogee.  Margaret was the third child born to Joy and Ruth Rains.  She attended school at McLain and spent her childhood summers in her father's cotton patch.  She married Leroy Bowen in 1944 at Briartown, Oklahoma, and from their marriage, her two children were born.  She met and married Ruben Goehmann from Fredericksburg, Texas in 1974.  They lived their married life in various places in Texas until their retirement in 1989, at which time she moved back to her beloved hometown.  She loved to cook, crochet, make beautiful afghans and her chocolate pies were practically world famous.  She loved her family and her two grandchildren.   Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Ruben Goehmann, her parents, Joy and Ruth Rains, a brother, Joy Rains, Jr.,  two sisters, Louise Yost and Sally Mathews.  She is survived by one brother, Roy Rains and wife Betty of McLain, Oklahoma.  One son, Rocky Bowen and wife Debra of Oktaha, Oklahoma.  One daughter, Susan Sweeney and husband William of Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma.  One grandson, Dustin Bowen and wife Megan, of Oktaha.  One granddaughter, Jenna Bowen of Oktaha and a special niece, Judy Breshears of Fountain Hills, Arizona, who she claimed as her daughter.  She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces, nephews and great great nieces and nephews and many dear friends and neighbors.  The world has lost a very special person.  She had a wonderful life and will be missed beyond words.  Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 23rd, 2014 at the Keefeton Freewill Baptist Church with the Reverend Cardell Coppin and Danny Barks presiding.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Margaret's name to the Kelley B. Todd Cerebral Palsy Neuro-Muscular Center, 1111 N. 36th St., Muskogee, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Shipman's Muskogee Cremation & Funeral Service, 1325 N. York St. Muskogee, OK
