Tom Morris Wilson


Tom Morris Wilson, 89, went to be with the Lord on January 22, 2014. Tom was born in Hot Springs, AR, on December 16, 1924.

His parents, Hettie and Clyde E. Wilson, preceded Tom in death. He is survived by a loving family that includes his wife, Wilma V. “Peggy”; two sons, Luie Tom and wife, Brenda, of Porum, OK, Clyde Morris and wife, Judy, of Tiburon, CA; two grandchildren, Katherine Shotz and husband, Andy, of Novata, CA, Todd Smith of San Rafael, CA; five great-grandchildren, Monica Smith, Rachel, Kane, Tara, and Cole Shotz; two sisters, Mary Dickson of Hot Springs, AR, Hettie Lou and husband, Don, of Hot Springs, AR; one brother, Clyde E. “Sugg” and wife, Kathleen, of Hot Springs, AR; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Tom loved flying airplanes, was an avid fisherman, made beautiful things from wood with his saws, eagerly participated in all church activities, and donated his time working with taxes for AARP.

As a young man, Tom worked at his dad’s furniture store in Hot Springs, AR. He transitioned to his dad’s radio station as a radio engineer. After moving to Muskogee, Tom worked as a radio engineer for KMUS. Later he worked as one of the first television engineers for channel 8, KTUL. In 1963 he and Peggy opened Muskogee 2-Way Communications and Wilson’s Answering Service. As a contractor, Tom built and maintained FM/AM radio stations from Missouri to Texas. He built the first cable television system in Missouri. He retired from his businesses in 1999.

Funeral services for Tom will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Lescher-Millsap Chapel in Muskogee with Pastor Bobby Wingo officiating. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery.
