Alice Liston, 73 year old Muskogee resident passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2014 in Muskogee. She was born on Sunday, September 8, 1940 in Checotah to Edmon and Vera Cude Johnson. Alice grew up in the Victor and Wainwright area. She attended school in Wainwright, graduating from Wainwright High School as the Valedictorian. After high school she moved to Muskogee and began working at the sewing factory. On Tuesday, September 3, 1963 she married the love of her life, Ray Liston in Charleston, South Carolina. They moved back to Muskogee where Alice became a homemaker and mother. When her children were in elementary school she began working at Brockway Glass as an assembly line worker, packing boxes. She retired from there in April of 1998 after 18 years of loyal, dedicated service. Alice enjoyed her morning cup of coffee while working her crossword puzzles, traveling, shopping, especially at Dillard's where she was known to have modeled clothing. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren, who affectionately called her “MEMA” and would talk to her sister everyday on the phone. Alice was known as a loving, caring mom who was always there. She will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ray; a step-daughter, Sonja Liston; two infant brothers and one infant sister; sisters Mary Lou Farnam and her husband Fred, Ella Wee Every and husband James and two brothers-in-law, Glen Burns and Earnest Neumeyer.
Alice is lovingly survived by her children, Teresa Gail Rousselet of Okay, Mickey Liston and his companion Kena Martin of Muskogee and a step-daughter Dianna Pevehouse and her husband Ronnie of Webbers Falls; four grandchildren, Tori Liston, Kristen Davison and her husband Linc, Andy Rousselet and Madison Cook; five brothers, Boyd Lee Johnson, Thomas Johnson and his wife Margaret, Carl Johnson and his wife Judy, her twin, Sonny Johnson and his wife Louise, Jim Johnson and his wife Jane; two sisters, Imaree Neumeyer and Delcene Burns. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other extended family and a lifetime of friends. Viewing for Alice be held on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM with her family greeting friends from 5PM-7PM at Garrett Family Funeral Home of Checotah. A celebration of Alice's life will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, January 29, 2014 in the Serenity Chapel of Garrett Family Funeral Home of Checotah with Reverend Todd Johnson, ministering. Committal prayers and Interment will be held at 12:00 PM (Noon) at Fort Gibson National Cemetery under the personal direction of John Garrett. Andy Rousselet, Linc Davison, Greg Johnson, Darren Johnson, Josh Johnson and Jared Johnson will serve as Casket Bearers.
