Brenda Kay Hinds

1955- 2012


— Brenda Kay Hinds, 57, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away after a hard fought battle with cancer Saturday, December 1, 2012 at home with her family and friends. She was born June 17, 1955 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Bobby Lee Stockton and Virginia Darlene Crittenden Stockton. Brenda grew up in Muskogee and met the love of her life Jerry Lewis Hinds.  The two were married May 25, 1973.  They were happily married 39 years. Not only were they husband and wife but best friends. The couple raised three wonderful children and opened their hearts and homes to many more. Brenda was a member of Southeast Baptist. The legacy of Brenda’s life was loving and helping others.

She blessed and changed the lives of family, friends, and strangers. She had a servant’s heart. Even her career as a Para-professional at Sadler Arts Academy was helping others, especially Emily Whitaker who she loved like her own. Brenda loved to shop, but her number one joy was having her family around her.

Brenda was preceded in death by her grandparents, Charlie and Nina Crittenden and Oda and Effie Stockton and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Brenda is survived by her parents, Bobby Lee and Virginia Darlene Stockton; her husband, Jerry Lewis Hinds; her sons, Steven Lee Hinds and wife, Tawnya, of Muskogee and Jonathan “Tyler” Hinds and wife, Rachel, of Oahu, Hawaii; daughter, Kimberly Hinds-Chapuis of Muskogee; grandkids, Seth, Kelsey, Matthew, Andrew, and Kailyn Chapuis and Isabella and Heath Hinds.  Other survivors are aunts and uncles, Mone Hensley of Muskogee, Tony and Ruth Ann Stockton of Tahlequah, Jim and Jeanne Treadway of Muskogee, Martha and Gene Mathis of Proctor, Mary Phiefer of Houston, Earl and Kay Cawvey and Pat and Bill Green all of Ft. Gibson, Ginger and Mike Wade of New York, Sue Ann Rowan of Miami, OK, Michael and Rhonda Hinds of Warner and Reece Hinds of Muskogee and several cousins.  

The family would like to express a special thanks to Linda Johnson and all those who loved and cared for loved Brenda.  She loved them all.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at Southeast Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be David Hix, Joe Owen, Gary Jobe, Jessie Gloria, Johnny Jackson, and James Chapuis. Honorary pallbearers are Jeff Pitts, Jerry Brassfield, Rod Brassfield, Jimmy Brassfield, Stanley Hensley, Buddie Hensley, Tommy Crittenden, Tony Stockton, Jim Treadway, Earl Cawvey and Mike Hinds.
