John William “Bill” Padgett

1936 - 2014

John William “Bill” Padgett, 77, of Muskogee, OK passed away Saturday, May 31, 2014 in Muskogee. He was born August 5, 1936 in Webbers Falls, OK to George Watt Padgett and Opal May Menees Padgett. John attended Muskogee Public Schools and graduated from Muskogee Central High School with the class of 1954. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. He retired as Master Sergeant after 20 years of service. John also worked at the VA Hospital in Muskogee as a Heat and Air Technician.

John was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, George R. Padgett; and his sisters, Virginia Ingram and Myrtle Mueller.

He is survived by his sons, Greg Padgett of Lake Charles, LA, and Bob Padgett of Denver, CO; three grandsons, Christopher, Ian, and Michael Padgett, all of Denver, CO; his brothers, Robert Padgett of Reno, NV, Jerry Padgett of Centerville, GA, and David Padgett of Muskogee, OK; his sister, Betty Broyles of Muskogee, OK; many nieces and nephews; the mother of his children, Mary Louise Padgett of Lake Charles, LA; special friends, Inez Holliday, Cheryl Holliday, and Judy Regan, all of Pasadena, CA; and many other family members and friends.

A graveside service honoring John's life will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 9, 2014 at Fort Gibson National Cemetery with Chaplain Forrest Kirk officiating. Full military honors will be presented. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Padgett, David Padgett, James Gilmartin, Jr., Curtis Forbes, James Gilmartin III, Christopher Gilmartin, and Klint Impson.
