Glenna “Sue” Brock

1935 - 2014

Glenna “Sue” Brock, 79, a longtime resident of the Elm Grove Community, entered heaven’s gates Thursday evening, June 5, 2014 in Tulsa. She was born on April 18, 1935 in Elm Grove, the first of 10 children, to Eugene Sallee and Opal Webb Sallee.

Sue began working at Griffin Food Company at the age of 15 with her father. She was known for her commitment to work and was involved in creating some of the recipes Griffin Foods still uses today. Her working career lasted more than 50 years. She made many lifetime friends who she continued to stay in touch with.

Sue fell in love with and later married Leon Brock on September 26, 1953 in Haskell, Oklahoma. They celebrated over 60 years together. They made their home on the family farm in Elm Grove. Her caring hands and feet were a sign of a hard working wife and mother who took great pride in making their house a home. You would always find a warm welcome, a home cooked meal and a homemade pie on the table.  She loved nothing more than spending time with her family, especially her great grandchildren, whom she adored.

Sue is remembered for her commitment to her Lord and Savior through her many years of service at Elm Grove Assembly of God Church. She served as a Sunday School teacher, booster band leader, choir member, as well as other roles in the church.

She was so loved by all who knew her and will be truly be missed. Her legacy of being a wonderful Christian wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend will always be remembered.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Bud Sallee, Claude Sallee and wife, Rita, and Raymond Sallee; sister, Georgia Anderson and husband, Jack; father and mother-in-law, Grandpa and Grandma Brock; sisters-in-law, Ora Lee Rains and Gladys Shackle and husband, Jack; and brother-in-law, Clyde Fields.

She is survived by her husband, Leon, son, Mitchell Brock and wife, Cindy; grandchildren, Clint Brock and wife, Megan, all of Elm Grove, Tara Dearman and husband, Patrick of Tulsa; great grandchildren, Brody and Piper Brock; sister, Martha Denison and husband, Bob of Spokane, WA; brothers, Allen Sallee, Virgil Sallee and wife, Linda, Bill Sallee and wife, Fern, all of Elm Grove, Paul Glen Sallee and wife, Diane of Muskogee; sisters-in-law, Maurine Flood and husband, Bob of Broken Arrow, OK, Faye Brock and Mildred Fields, both of Tulsa, Naomi Payne and husband, Bob of Wichita, KS, many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Cornerstone Funeral Home, 1830 N York St., Muskogee, OK.

Celebration of Sue’s life will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 9, 2014 at Muskogee First Assembly of God Church with Pastor Steve Rose and Rev. Steve Hughes officiating. Interment will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery with Wade Sallee, Brian Sallee, Jackie Sallee, Duane Sallee, Mike Daniels, and Greg Blankenship serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Roy Rains, Darrell Corser, Bill Burress, and Richard Short.

Funeral services are under the direction of Cornerstone Funeral Home, 1830 North York Street, Muskogee, Oklahoma.  Condolences may be made to the family online @www.cornerstoneofmuskogee.com.
