Royce William Hagood

1937-2014

Royce William Hagood, 76, of Muskogee, Oklahoma entered Heaven's gates on Monday, June 30, 2014.  He was born in Dallas, Texas on September 19, 1937 to Leroy B Hagood and Marie Campbell Hagood.  Royce graduated from Brownsville High School in Brownsville, Texas.  He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy from which he received an Honorable Discharge.   Royce served as a Federal Agent with the US Border Patrol from which he retired in 1987 after 23 years of service.  He later worked as a Municipal Court Judge in Port Isabel, TX and Laguna Vista, TX for two years.  Royce also served as Pastor at Lighthouse Assembly of God Church in Port Isabel, TX for 18 years.

Royce married Sondra Ruth Groton in 1958.  They shared 35 years together.  She preceded him in death in 1996.

Royce married Nina Eason on May 3, 1997 in Muskogee, OK where they shared 17 years together as husband and wife.  He also served as a Deacon at Southeast Baptist Church in Muskogee from 2007-2013 until his health began to fail him.

Royce enjoyed camping and fishing, but nothing was more special to him than spending time with his family.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Marie Hagood; his first wife of 35 years and mother of his children, Sonnie Hagood; and stepson, Calvin Wayne Eason Jr.

Royce is survived by his wife, Nina of the home; his daughter, Jackie Myers and husband, Chuck of Hot Springs, AR; his son, Chris Hagood and wife, Melissa of South St. Paul, MN; his stepsons, Darrel Eason and wife, Lenell of Lincoln, MO, Paul Eason of Warsaw, MO, Mark Eason and wife, Kim of Terlton, OK, and Steve Eason and wife, Debi of Claremore, OK; brothers, Raymond Hagood and wife, Cyndie of Brownsville, TX, Ronnie Hagood and wife, Beverly of Duncanville, TX, and Richard Hagood and wife, Laura of Pleasanton, TX.  They shared 20 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, other family members and many friends who will miss him dearly.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Cornerstone Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Southeast Baptist Church Building Fund, 2511 E Hancock St, Muskogee, OK 74403.

Funeral services celebrating Royce's life will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Southeast Baptist Church with Pastor Doug Miller officiating.  Interment will follow at Fort Gibson National Cemetery with grandsons, Joey Myers, Christian Myers, Christopher Myers, and stepsons, Darrel Eason, Mark Eason, Steve Eason, and Paul Eason serving as pallbearers.
