Harlan Wade Bennett

1958 - 2014

Harlan Wade Bennett, 55, was born April 5, 1958 in Bakersfield, CA, to Harlan and Norma (Davis) Bennett and passed away peacefully Thursday, January 16, 2014 at home with his family by his bedside. Harlan grew up in Braggs, OK where he attended school, graduating with the class of ‘77. He served our country in the United States Army, honorably discharged in 1987 after serving four years as a light wheel mechanic. Harlan worked various factory jobs before starting a career at Muskogee Public Schools as a Maintenance Technician where he worked from 2005. Harlan enjoyed working, target shooting, loving on his dog “Lady”, and he also loved spending time with his family watching old western movies, and eating Mom’s cooking. He was a member of Braggs Church of Christ.

Harlan is survived by his Mom; Norma J Bennett of Braggs, OK, brothers; Micah N Bennett of Braggs, OK and Brett A. Bennett and wife Gwen of Tulsa, OK.

He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents; Luther and Mamie Davis and Howard and Willie Bennett.

A celebration of Harlan’s life will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 21, 2014, at Braggs Church of Christ with Minister Leon Brashears officiating. Interment will follow at the South Bethel Cemetery in Braggs with Brant Wiedel, Derrell Downum, Hilton Hart, Jeff Zarnke, Nicholas Simon and Wayne Johnson serving as Casketbearers.
