Nancy Jean (Jones) Burris

1952 - 2014

Nancy Jean (Jones) Burris, formerly of Warner, was born on December 3, 1952, in Muskogee, OK, to Vowell and May Jones. Nancy departed this world on Monday, January 20, 2014 at her home in Muskogee.

Nancy was an educator for Muskogee Public Schools for 38 years and was passionate about making a difference in the lives of her students. She was currently teaching at Grant Foreman and was an active member of Eastside Community Church. Her daughter, Randi, and education were her life.

Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Vowell and May Jones; and Randi’s father, Tony Burris.

Survivors include her daughter, Randi and son-in-law, Dustin Sanders, of Muskogee; sisters and brothers-in-law, Cynthia and Pat Alexander, Norma and Danny Scott, Lorreta and Kenneth Fulbright all of Warner; one brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Jan Jones of Little Hocking, OH; numerous nieces, nephews, and many close friends.

Her kind and loving nature will truly be missed.

Services will be held at Eastside Community Church at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, January 24, 2014 with Reverend Gary Underwood officiating, and eulogy to follow by Reverend Pat Alexander and Reverend Fred Igert. Arrangements are under the direction of Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home of Muskogee.
