Donald L. “Don” Thomason

1934 - 2014


— Donald L. “Don” Thomason, 79 of Muskogee, passed away Friday morning, January 24, 2014. A lifetime resident of Northeastern Oklahoma, Don was born July 20, 1934 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to Don and Mable (Cauthon) Thomason. He grew up and attended schools in Okmulgee. After high school, Don enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country.

On June 23, 1960, Don married the love of his life, Patsy Ann Cole, in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma. They celebrated over 53 years of marriage.

Don worked with Muskogee Public Schools and Orkin Pest Control. He retired from Muskogee Public Schools in 2002. His family fondly remembers that he retired and then went back to work for a few years because he enjoyed his job and staying busy. His family also remembers how proud he was when he went back to school and finished his education and received his G.E.D.

His hobbies include working with wood and being involved with Muskogee Little League Baseball and also Muskogee High School Baseball. He loved doing his hobbies and spending time with his family and friends.

Don is preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, Adam Richerson; a grandson, Aaron Thomason; two sisters, JoAnn Conners and Imogene Sells; and a brother, William Richerson.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy of the home; three sons, Ricky and wife Debra Thomason of Muskogee, Troy and wife Amber Thomason of Muskogee, and Wendell and wife Nancy Thomason of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; two daughters, Tamera Corbett of Muskogee and Christina and husband Keith Green of Muskogee; his fourteen Grandchildren; his thirty-two Great Grandchildren and his two great great grandchildren; his sister, Easter Hughes of Muskogee; numerous other family members and friends.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverends Frank and Carolyn Spencer officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be family members Keith Green, Edward Hall, Andrew Corbett Sr., Andrew Corbett Thomason Jr., Michael Durossette and Brandon Corbett. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Hall and Zachary Corbett Thomason. Interment will follow in Greenhill Cemetery.
