Mary Etta (Fargo) Matthews

1945 - 2014

Mary Etta (Fargo) Matthews was born March 15, 1945 to Irene (Evans) Fargo and Cicero Fargo. She departed this life on Friday, January 24, 2014 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas at the age of 68. She grew up in Muldrow, Oklahoma where she met Troy Duane Matthews, who she later married. She attended Westark Community College, earning an Allied Heath Degree in nursing. Later, her and her husband opened their business, T&M Sand and Gravel, Inc. in Gore, Oklahoma.

Survivors are: 1 daughter, Jennifer Irene Matthews Tootle of Sallisaw, OK and her children: William Brookeshire Rowe, Jenny Brianna Jennings and Mason Lee Tootle; 1 son, Mark Duane Matthews of Gore, OK and his children: Brenton Shawn Matthews and wife, Samantha, Danyella Fay Matthews, Kyelea Nichole Matthews, Jeff Walters, Andrea Goad and Anna Coatney. Great grandchildren: Noah Duane Matthews, Gauge Matthews and Able Ira Matthews; Niece: Linda Sue Rupe; Nephews: Harvey James Day and Dennis Joe Day; special companion: Harold Wonser; special friends: Brenda McAlister and Earlene Matthews; and her many other wonderful friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Troy Duane Matthews; her parents; and 1 sister, Pattie Sue Day.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at 2 pm at Calvary Temple Full Gospel Church in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Muldrow under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw.

Viewing will be Tuesday 10 am – 8 pm at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw. The family will greet friends from 6 – 8 pm. Active Pallbearers are Hal Barrow, Ken Christopher, Darren Stites, Aaron Vanzant, Pat Coker, James Lloyd McAlister. Honorary Pallbearers are Dale Henry, Dennis Day, Jim Callahan and Kevin Harvell.
