Harold Floyd Leep, 81, from Muskogee passed away February 6, 2014. Harold was born January 3, 1933 to Leonard and Mae Leep in Cookson, OK. On October 31, 1947, at the young age of 14, Harold pulled a fast one on the United States Air Force and joined to serve his country. On January 3, 1949, his 16th birthday, Harold returned home to help care for his family. Harold's family soon moved to Wichita, KS. While in Wichita, Harold owned a couple gas stations and The West Acres Bowling Alley. When Harold moved back to Oklahoma, he owned Leep Oil & Gas and also Thunderbird Speedway in Muskogee.
Harold's love and passion for racing was apparent through all of his awards and recognitions over the years of his career. In 1969, Harold earned the "Triple Crown" of Southwestern Racing Series in Wichita, Tulsa, and Oklahoma City. During his racing career, he won 19 track championships and over 500 feature wins. Harold is in the Wichita Sports Hall of Fame, Big Car Association Hall of Fame, National Midget Auto Racing Hall of Fame, Oklahoma Racing Hall of Fame, National Sprint Car Hall of Fame, Nebraska Auto Racing Hall of Fame, and 81 Speedway Hall of Fame. On May 22, 1989 Harold married Geraldine (Holland) in Miami, OK at Laverns Wedding Chapel. Harold loved spending time with his family and going to the casino with Jeri. He also truly enjoyed bass/crappie fishing.
Harold is preceded in death by his parents; and 1 son Harold Lloyd Leep (May 29, 2008).
Harold leaves behind to cherish his memories, his wife Geraldine Leep of the home; 2 step sons, Greg Johnson and wife Angie of Ft. Gibson, Mike Johnson and wife Nancy of OKC; 1 step daughter Jennifer Hall of Muskogee; 1 daughter in law Alice Leep of OKC; 2 brothers, Leroy Leep and wife Lori of Washington, Jerry Leep and wife Judy of Wichita, KS; 1 sister Norma Jean Martinez and husband Raphel of Grand Prairie, TX; 11 grandchildren, Lloyd (Heather) Leep, Jeff (Maggie) Leep, Jake Hall, Jordan Johnson, Cheyenne Johnson, Aubrey Johnson, Kady Johnson, Tucker Johnson, Tessie Johnson, Luke Johnson, Drew Johnson; 4 great grandchildren, Trey, Alissa, Harlie, and Reese Leep; and many many friends.
Memorial Services will be 2:00 pm Saturday February 15, 2014 at Southeast Baptist Church, 2511 E. Hancock, Muskogee, OK under the direction of Hibbs Funeral Home.
