Rosemary Piotrowski Ryan

Rosemary Ryan, 90, of Muskogee, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday February 16, 2014 at Eastgate Village Nursing Center.  She was born in Fort Scott, Kansas, August 10, 1923, to Vivian (Throndson) and Albert Lee Piotrowski.  On April 5, 1947, she was united in marriage to Leo C. Ryan in Kansas City, Missouri.  Leo’s work opportunities took them to Butler, St. Joseph, Springfield and Kansas City, Missouri and Corpus Christi, Texas.

They relocated to Muskogee in 1967 and immediately knew they would spend the rest of their days here. They were steadfast members of Grace Episcopal Church.  Before her health failed, Rosemary was involved with the Church Women of Grace and the Person-to-Person group.  She was President of the New Friends Club twice and a board member of the Knife and Fork Club.  She was also a cook for Meals On Wheels and a volunteer with RSVP, the Retired Senior Volunteer Program.  She was a true friend and loving mother and grandmother.  She will be truly missed.

Rosemary was preceded in death by her husband, Leo, on February 3, 1987, and an infant son, Albert.  She is survived by one daughter, Linda Stout and husband, Jay of Muskogee; three grandchildren, Lacey Huff and husband, Russell of Bartlesville, Christopher (C.J.) of Muskogee, and Daniel and fiancé Erielle Buckmaster of Tahlequah; two great grandchildren, Maddy and Sutton Huff, and one great grandson due in April, Sawyer Stout. She is also survived by one brother, Albert L. Piotrowski, along with Helen Jones of Parsons, Kansas; nephew, Douglas Piotrowski and wife, Rosie of Stilwell, Kansas, and their son, Thomas; brother-in-law, Tom Ryan and wife, Phyllis of Marshall, Missouri; and sister-in-law, Cecilia Ryan of Kansas City, Missouri.

The family would like to thank the staff of Eastgate Nursing Center and Hometown Hospice, especially Teresa, Candy, Whitney, and Tonya, for their love and support.  We appreciate all the care they gave and all the other nurses and aides who contributed to making Rosemary’s life the best it could be.

Contributions may be made to the Grant Foreman Collection of the Muskogee Public Library, 801 W. Okmulgee, Muskogee, OK 74401; Three Rivers Museum, 220 Elgin, Muskogee, OK 74401; or another charity of your choice.

A funeral service celebrating the life of Rosemary Ryan will be held at 12:30 pm on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at Bradley Belltower Chapel with Chaplain Cindy Culver officiating.  Burial will follow at Fort Gibson National Cemetery with C.J. Stout, Don Stout, Dan Stout, Russell Huff, Kevin Hill and Doug Piotrowski serving as pallbearers.
