Randy Carl Davenport

1957-2014

Randy Carl Davenport, 56 year old Oklahoma City resident passed away on Monday, February 17, 2014 in Oklahoma City.  He was born on Friday, September 20, 1957 to Freddie Carl and Patsy (Helms) Davenport in Durant.  Randy grew up around Checotah where he attended school graduating from Checotah High School in 1976. He entered the United States Marines on Monday, August 30, 1976 and was honorably discharged on Thursday, July 14, 1977.  Randy attended OSU Institute of Technology where he studied small engine mechanics.  In 1976, on Friday, November 26, 1976 he married Donna Caro at the First Baptist Church of Checotah.   Randy worked at Gentle Giant Bowling Alley where he maintained the lanes and kept the machines running.  He also worked for the American Bowling Congress traveling through many states. Randy also worked in construction and as a mail sorter for the United States Postal Service.  His hobbies included hunting, fishing and vegetable gardening.  He attended the Life Church in Oklahoma City. 

Randy was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, John Davenport.  He is lovingly survived by his wife, Donna Davenport of Oklahoma City; sons, Christopher Carl Davenport and fiancé Chrissy of Denver, CO and Jeremy Davenport and wife Kim of Oklahoma City; grandchildren, Ashlyn McWhirter, Kayden Davenport, Rylan Davenport and Kinley Davenport.  Randy is also survived by his brothers, Terry Davenport and wife Becky, Ray Davenport both of Longtown; sisters, Janet Beebe, Tammy Furnish both of Longtown and Patricia Fisher and husband Jeff of Okemah; special friend, Joe Tedder of Oklahoma City; his favorite dog, “Jack;” as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family and a lifetime of friends.

Viewing for Randy will be from 9 AM to 7 PM on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at Garrett Family Funeral Home of Checotah. The casket will not be opened at the service. Funeral services for Randy will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at the Serenity Chapel of Garrett Family Funeral Home with Reverend David Bright officiating. The scattering of Randy’s ashes will be held privately by his family.
