Robert K. Blood

1928-2013

— Robert K. Blood (Bob) was born 11/14/1928 to K. D. and Edith Blood in Austin, TX. The Blood family soon moved to Oklahoma City, where he was raised. Growing up he became an avid sportsman, fisherman, as well as a “rabid” baseball player. Baseball and softball remained a passion throughout his life. Bob attended Oklahoma State University for 4 years, graduating in 1950. While at OSU he was a member of Beta Theta Pi social fraternity, Air Force ROTC and Scabbard and Blade. He finished his education, after his duty was served in the Korean War, with a Law Degree from Oklahoma City University. During the Korean War he served as an officer in the USAF serving in Germany, where he met and married Eunice M. Robertson who was serving in the Red Cross.  The Bloods moved to OKC after his discharge, where he remained serving in the reserves obtaining the rank of Captain. After finishing his law degree, he practiced law in Stigler. In 1962, Bob would work as an attorney for the VA in Muskogee until his retirement. As a long-term Muskogee resident he was member of: The Optimist Club, Debate Club, Knife and Fork Club as well as other organizations and charities. As an Optimist, he became Lt. Governor and Governor for the state of OK. Bob is survived by his three sons: Ken Blood of Oklahoma City, Glenn Blood of Yukon, and Ben Blood of Oklahoma City. He also leaves 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, who will miss their Bumpa. After ten years of failing health, Bob left this earth on May 30, 2013 at the age of 84. Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 21, 2013 at Fort Gibson National Cemetery. Online condolences may be signed at www.yandafuneral.com.
