Bettye Fish Cable

1924 - 2013

Bettye Fish Cable passed away on September 28, 2013. Services will be held at Grandview Baptist Church Thursday, October 3, 2013, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Danny Mills officiating. Interment will be at Greenhill Cemetery. Born on July 6, 1924, in Star City, Ark., Bettye was the daughter of Curtis Wayne and Effie Grace Fish.  She married Joseph M. Cable on September 13, 1945.  Bettye studied art at Texas Women’s University and Hardin-Simmons University.  An unfailingly kind person, Bettye was a member of Grandview Baptist Church. She taught 4-year-old Sunday school at the First Baptist Church of Muskogee for more than 40 years, positively influencing countless children.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Dr. Roy Fish. Bettye is survived by her husband, Joe of Muskogee; daughters Gwyn Broyles of Tulsa and Karen Matkin of Waco, Texas; son, John C. Cable, of Atlanta, Ga.; grandson, Christopher Cable; sister, Doris Nelson of Oklahoma City; brother, Col. Dudley Fish of Plano; and many nieces and nephews.  Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.  The family wishes to thank Shirley, Betty, Jennifer and the staff of Good Neighbor Hospice for making her last few weeks much more pleasant to bear.
