John Edward Self

1943 - 2013

— John Edward Self of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away Friday, June 7, 2013 at the age of 69. He was born to John D. Self and Cortelyoue Bennett on November 28, 1943 in Newman, Georgia where he grew up and attended school.

John was proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army.  

He married Cheryl Jean Reynolds on June 17, 1993 in Sevierville, Tennessee.

John was a forklift mechanic by trade from which he retired. He was a member of the Masons, Shriners, American Mule & Donkey Society, Antique Tractor Club, and the Pipe Clubs Worldwide. He and Cheryl traveled together and enjoyed seeing the sights on their adventures with the Pipes Club.  

John was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Jean Self, of the home; his son, Edward Self; his daughters, Brenda O’Brien, Linda Self; his granddaughter, Kimberly Self, Katalin Self, and Lacy Coxx; other family members and friends.

A memorial service celebrating the life of John will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 14, 2013 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Cecil Guthrie officiating.
