Lou Ann Storm

1944 – 2013

— Lou Ann Storm, 69 of Checotah, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at St. Francis Medical Center in Tulsa.

Lou Ann was born March 18, 1944 in Checotah, the daughter of Homer Christopher and Clova (King) Winkle. She worked with her family on their farm, learning at an early age how to work hard and to stay busy. She picked cotton, learned to cook and take care of family. Lou Ann also met Clarence Nix Storm, a neighbor and some years later she married him on December 9, 1963. Lou Ann continued to work with Nix on their farm, picking watermelons, cantaloupe, tending the garden and cooking. She will be remembered by her family as the proverbial women; dedicated with a loving spirit in taking care of all the needs of her family. Lou Ann also worked at the White Stag Sewing Factory for several years, the First Baptist Church for several years and was a teacher assistant in the computer lab at Marshall Elementary School from 1985 until she retired in 2004.

Lou Ann was preceded in death by her mother and father, bother Dale Winkle and nephew, Bradley Coleman. She is survived by her husband Nix of the home; children, Hoy Storm (Mary) of Carr Creek, Joe Heath Storm of the home and Lisa Annette Robison (Larry) of Shady Grove; grandsons, Justin Storm (Christin), Dustin Storm (Megan), Austin Storm (Skylar), Westin Storm (Kami) and Bryon Smith (Heather); granddaughters, Stormi Hollingshed (Jake), Allissa Bell and Amanda Crawford; twenty great-grandchildren; sister, Nona Coleman; brother, Cecil Winkle; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 4, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Checotah. Interment will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Checotah Funeral Service. Online condolences to the family may be left at
