Thomas A. “T.A.” Gilliam

1920 - 2013

Thomas A. “T.A.” Gilliam, 92 of Muskogee passed away, Sunday, August 11, 2013 at the Muskogee Veterans Hospital.

T.A. was born October 19, 1920 in Muskogee, the son of Thomas Alfred and Laura (Stonesifer) Gilliam Sr. He was a WW2 veteran serving with the U.S. Army in England, France and Germany. He married Marie Winkle on May 7, 1948. T.A. Worked for Industrial Supply and later worked in the tool department for Oklahoma Rig. He loved gardening and being a part of his church family at the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Marie passed away on December 9, 1996 and he later married Mary Smith May 2, 1999. The couple lived in Muskogee.

T.A. was also preceded in death by his sons, Kenneth and Thomas Gilliam, and step-daughter Pat Smith and is survived by three grandsons;  Ryan and Andrea Gilliam, Joshua Gilliam and Kevin and Debbie Smith; grand-daughters, Michele and David Seek, Holly and Dan Dineson, Sarah Gilliam and  Marla Gilliam; step-daughters; Marilyn and Jim Thompson, Cheryl and Mark Cato, Frieda Smith,  and Valerie and Robin McDaniel; eight step-grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; sisters Mary Lou Young of Conners, CA and Ruth Pound of Bedford, Indiana; ex-daughter–in-law Claudia and Howard Vance.

Funeral services will 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 16, 2013 at Seventh Day Adventist Church with Pastor Rudy Juarez and Pastor Perry Flerchinger officiating. Military Honors will follow at 1:00 P.M. at the Ft. Gibson National Cemetery under the direction of the Army Honor Guard.

The family has entrusted Bradley Family Funeral Service with the arrangements. Friends may send condolences to the family at
