Carl Raymond Morgan Sr.


— Carl Raymond Morgan Sr., 86 of Muskogee, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2014, morning at his home. He was born September 1, 1927 in Vian, Oklahoma to Perry Milton and Charlotte (Snow) Morgan.  He grew up and attended school in Vian before enlisting in the United States Army. Carl served his country faithfully and was honorably discharged. After his departure from the United States Army, he furthered his education and became a Commercial Electrician. He joined the IBEW L. U. 584 and was a member for 65 years until his retirement in 1990. During his career he traveled across the United States and abroad.

Carl married the love of his life, Rita Emma Simon, on July 19, 1957 in Farmington, Minnesota. Carl and Rita celebrated over 55 years of marriage before her death in April of 2013.

His children remember kindly how much he enjoyed volunteering for Meals On Wheels and a local food pantry. They also remember how he like tinkering around his home and mowing the yard. Carl liked to stay busy and enjoyed spending time with his family. Carl was an active member of the IBEW, V.F.W., Masonic Lodge #7 and St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Carl is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rita in April of 2013; his daughter, Charlotte Cook; his granddaughter, Eva Conaway; his sisters, Daisy Smith, Marvel Ralston, Clara Thomas and Dimple Morgan.

He is survived by his sons, Ronald Morgan of Seattle, WA, Carl Morgan Jr. and wife Becky of Muskogee, OK, Steven Morgan of Sallisaw, OK, and Jack Morgan and wife Keri of Muskogee, OK; his daughter, Margaret Amos of Muskogee, OK; his grandchildren, Erica Morgan of Tilden, IL, Emily Conaway of Wister, OK, James Morgan of Orange, TX, Caitlynn and Hunter Morgan of Muskogee, OK; his great grandchildren, Ethan Morgan of Tilden, IL and Taryn and Preslei Beason of Wister, OK; and numerous other members of the family.

Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Jim Ruyle, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Fort Gibson National Cemetery.
