Bill Kaad

1925 - 2013

— Bill Kaad, a retired Muskogee banker, died Monday, March 25, 2013. He was born December 20, 1925 in Dermott, Arkansas to William and Rose Kaad.

Bill and his mother moved to Muskogee in 1934 after his father died. He attended Muskogee schools and graduated in 1943. He entered the Navy in early 1944 and served as a naval air crewman until his discharge in 1946. One of his assigned stations while in the service was Naval Air Station in Beeville, Texas. There he met and married his wife, Nettie Booth in February 1946. Bill and Nettie came to Muskogee where he found employment with the First National Bank and Trust Co. in March of 1946 and remained there for over thirty-three years. He worked in every department of the bank and was President of the bank for seven years, and vice chairman of the Board of Directors for one year. Community service had always been a priority at the bank, and in addition to serving on the bank Board of Directors, he also served in various other organizations. Some of which are: The Muskogee Chamber of Commerce, Board member, President 1976-77 Executive Committee, Muskogee United Way, 1976-79, Campaign Chairman, 1970-71, member of Board of Directors, Muskogee Country Club Past President, Muskogee YMCA Past President, Muskogee Kiwanis Club Treasurer, City of Muskogee, Raised to the Degree of Master Mason, March 1947, Member of York & Scottish Rite Bodies of Masonry Member of Bedouin Shrine Temple, past Potentate, 1974, former member Royal Order of Jesters

Bill joined Bethany Presbyterian Church in May of 1955 and served in many positions, including Ruling Elder being ordained on June 8, 1956. Bill served in the Eastern Oklahoma Presbytery as treasurer and a three year term on the Board of Trustees. He was an elected Elder Delegate to the Churches General Assembly in Denver, Colorado. Bill also served as a member of the Greater Muskogee Development Corp., Board of Directors. He also was a Trustee, Muskogee Industrial Trust.

Bill and Nettie moved to Pueblo, Colorado in late 1978 and he joined a group of Pueblo Business leaders in forming a new bank on the Westside of Pueblo, where Bill served as President and C.E.O. With the Charter granted and the building completed, the bank opened in early 1980. December 31, 1985 Bill retired to their home in the Sangre de Christo Range of the mountains in the community of Beaulah, Co. to enjoy his many friends there and the beautiful surrounding mountains.

Bill and Nettie returned to the Muskogee area in May 1990 and built a home on a small acreage in southern Wagoner County. What productive years that remained were spent with various opportunities for serving at Bethany Church. Bill enjoyed reading fiction and the many old friends and new relationships he formed at the Duplicate Bridge Group at the Kiawanis Senior Citizen Center in Muskogee.

Bill is survived by his wife, Nettie; daughter, Jeanette Magni and husband, Dale of Bixby, OK; son, William Michael Kaad and wife, Kathy of Muskogee, OK; grandchildren, Curt Rampp, Alycia Highfill, Kelli High and husband, Derek, Bryan Kaad and wife, Michelle; two great grandchildren, Kristen Magni and Aysia Kaad.

Family requests memorials be made to the Bedouin Shrine Temple Transporation Fund, 201 S. 6th Street, Muskogee, OK 74401

Memorial service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 29, 2013 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Conrad Barrett officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at Fort Gibson National Cemetery.

Funeral services are under the direction of Cornerstone Funeral Home and Crematory, 1830 N. York Street, Muskogee, Oklahoma.
