Geneva Mae Foster

1922 - 2013


— On Wednesday, May 1, 2013, God called His daughter, Geneva Mae Foster, home. Born August 6, 1922 in Cherokee County, to Olly and Mary Sells, Geneva was the eighth of ten children.  She grew up in the midst of a loving family.

Geneva met and fell in love with George W. Foster, a widower, and his four young children, GeorgeAnne, Donald, Billy, and John.  Married in Pryor on February 26, 1940, George, Geneva, and the children lived near Hulbert.  God blessed them with three more children, Hellen, Robert (Butch), and Patsy.

Geneva’s life was filled with loving her Lord, her family, and others.  She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many. She enjoyed going to church, reading her Bible, listening to gospel singing, cooking, cleaning, quilting, and traveling.  

Geneva was preceded in death by her parents, Olly and Mary Sells; her husband, George W.; five children, GeorgeAnne Dutton, Donald Foster, Billy Foster, John David Foster, Robert (Butch) Foster; and one granddaughter, Lisa Slape Richardson; as well as four brothers and four sisters.

She is survived by her two daughters, Hellen Miles of Muskogee, Patsy Slape and husband, Larry of Hulbert; one sister, Faye Dorris and husband, Ralph of Broken Arrow; twelve grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and a host of other loved ones.

Funeral services celebrating the life of Geneva will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 3, 2013 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bobby Botts and Rev. Hellen Thomas officiating.  Interment will follow at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Hulbert with Stephen Miles, Michael Miles, Darren Miles, David Slape, Nick Young, and Randy Sponem serving as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Dutton, Shawn Miles, Josh Harvel, Chad Sellers, Mark Evan Wilson, and David Foster.
