Johnna S. (Coventon) Jackson

1948 - 2013

Johnna S. (Coventon) Jackson was born on February 22, 1948 and passed away May 16th, 2013.  Johnna was born and raised in Muskogee, Oklahoma and graduated from Central High School in 1966.  She was a proud member of the Rougher “Crack Squad” and an avid tennis player.  Johnna attended Oklahoma State University where she majored in journalism and enjoyed two OSU victories over OU during her time there.

In 1969, Johnna moved to Tulsa and met and married her best friend, David Jackson.  They enjoyed playing tennis and especially racing the cars that David built.  After 30 years as an executive vice president in the advertising industry, Johnna retired and took up golf.  She and David joined The Oaks Country Club where they played in many couples tournaments and enjoyed their new family of friends.  Johnna was very active in the OWGA (Oaks Women’s Golf Association) and held every position on the Board.

She was president of the Life Senior Services Board of Directors and contributed greatly to their fundraising efforts.  She was also known for being very thoughtful and generous with her family, and always made sure there were mountains of gifts at Christmas.

She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents, her mother, Lillie Grace and father John William Coventon.  She is survived by her husband of 42 years, David Jackson, brother Dan Coventon and wife Mary Lu, sister Lori Winkle and husband John, sisters-in-law Vicki Jackson, Kathy (Jim) Louis, and Claudia (Patrick) Sawyer, and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 20, 2013 at First United Methodist Church in Muskogee with Rev. Jack Kemper officiating.
