Keith Simmons

1952 -2013

— On May 3, 1952 a beautiful little boy was born.  He was given the name Keith.  At a very young age Keith was a very active, inquisitive child and was a very outgoing person. He graduated from the Historic Manual Training High School with the class of 1970 and attended NSU.

At a very young age he became a member of Hope Lutheran Church.  He served faithfully and became an Elder of the church. Hope Lutheran and First Lutheran merged and Keith continued his faithful journey with the Lord by serving as Elder and then the Director of Elders until he went home to be with the Lord.  His fellowship with his church members was a very precious time for him.  He loved working around the church, inside the church and being with his fellow members, Elders and Pastor.

He loved to bowl and he loved all of his bowling friends.  He made sure that Thursday nights, he would be present not only to bowl but to be around his friends.  Keith also enjoyed golfing and his many golfing buddies. He was so active that he even received a black belt in Karate.

Preceding him in death was grandmother/mother Valee Simmons, grandfather/father Fernandas Simmons, and his brother Michael.  Remaining to cherish his memories are his loving and devoted wife, Lonelia “Lonnie”  Simmons, of the home, his mother, Bertha Horn, Muskogee; his brothers Tony Horn, Sr. (Joyce) Muskogee and Shawn Horn (Jewel), Atlanta, GA. his Sisters Debra Simmons Hitchye (Glenn), Muskogee, and Karen Horn Nelson (Dale) Minneapolis, MN.  Brothers-in-law, Pete Rowland (Muskogee) and Doyle Rowland (Carsetta), all of Muskogee; his Sister-in-law Ida Eubanks (Wichita) and his special mother-in-law, Alto Rowland of the home;  Pastor Marlon Coleman and the entire Antioch Missionary Baptist Church family, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins relatives and friends.

The Hour of Remembrance will be shared on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the First Lutheran Church.  Pastor Wayne Schuett will Officiate.  Burial will follow in the Booker T. Washington Cemetery.  You may visit Keith, as he slumbers in peaceful repose at the Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc., on Tuesday from 10 AM until 6 PM.  Friends may convey condolences and sign the online register at www.biglowfunerals.com.
