Mary Anna Manske

1927 – 2012

Mary A. Manske, 85, of Muskogee, passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at Broadway Manor Health Care Center.  She was born February 27, 1927 in rural Chaney, Oklahoma, to John and Katherine Manske.  As she grew up she was educated in the Woodward, Oklahoma area completing high school there.  She went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and retired from there.

She never married but enjoyed life with a dedication to her faith and studying the Bible.  She also loved to read history books, mysteries, westerns and of course her cookbooks as she enjoyed cooking.  Travel was a joy for her traveling to five continents and approximately 30 countries.  She even had the opportunity to drive to California on Route 66 when there were no other highways to take her there.  Her special pets were mostly cats.  Along with her pets she loved to garden with flowers and participate in photography and presented slides of her travels.

Mary was an active member in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness.

Her parents came to this country from Russia being members of that faith and she grew up with a love for that also.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, John and Katherine Manske.

She is survived by her sister, Juanita J. Manske of Muskogee, Oklahoma.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at Fosters’ Ivory Chapel with Mr. Peter Schneider officiating.  Friends may wish to remember Mary by making memorials to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness, P.O. Box 2285, Muskogee, Oklahoma 74402.

Funeral service arrangements are under the direction of Foster-Petering Funeral Home.  Condolences to the family may be made at www.foster-petering.com
